Giving Up

(45) The days of his youth hast thou shortened: thou hast covered him with shame. Selah.


Do you realize that Jesus' life was shortened. Even in His day people usually lived into their 40's or 50's. He could have had a life much longer. Why God chose to end it when He did I do not know. Perhaps the temptation for Jesus to not go through with it would have been to great had He gotten older.

And He was covered with shame. He was spit on. That made Him unclean by Jewish law. It is still the ultimate insult today to be spit upon intentionally by another person.

He gave up so much more than the pain on the cross. He gave His life time so that you and I could live all of ours. He gave up His pride so that we can stand in our pride.

Why then can we not sacrifice for Him? Why do we struggle to read our Bible each day. Why does it take so much effort to be in prayer to Him and His Father?
