Eph 6:17 KJV
(17) .... and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The sword of the Spirit. By default we think that this is the Spirit of God and a look at the definition of the word in the Greek would confirm it. The Greek wordpneuma means, according to Strong's:
a current of air, that is, breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively a spirit, that is, (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, daemon, or (divine) God, Christ’s spirit, the Holy spirit: - ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind.
By default, I think that from the way that it is used, that we could agree that it is the Holy Spirit that is used here. But there is one other interesting word in the sentence. When we say word, it can mean a spoken word or a written word. In this sentence word is rhema. From Strong's again:
an utterance (individually, collectively or specifically); by implication a matter or topic (especially of narration, command or dispute);
Did you catch that first part? An utterance. A spoken word of God. So this sentence is " the sword of the Holy Spirit, which is the spoken word of God.
You have to be sensitive to the Spirit of God. He will let you know the problems as God speaks them. Our spirit communicates with the Holy Spirit as God speaks to Him. Take some time to ask the Spirit to speak to you as you start your day. You will then be ready to stick that sword into Satan when he tries to attack.
