Seeing

October 11, 2006

Luke 7:20-22 ESV
(20)  And when the men had come to him, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, 'Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?'"
(21)  In that hour he healed many people of diseases and plagues and evil spirits, and on many who were blind he bestowed sight.
(22)  And he answered them, "Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them.

What do people see in your life.

John was doubtful that Jesus was the one even though he had heard from God that Jesus was.  So when he was in prison, John sent messengers to ask Jesus if he was the one.  Jesus did not reply and say, yes I am.  Instead He told John to look around and see all the miracles that were happening.  Since John was in prison this was a hard thing to do.  And yet, Jesus said look.

John heard about things.  In his darkest hour in prison, when he is about to be killed, John sees that Jesus is the one.

So what do people see in your life?  Do they see Jesus in you?  Not that you do not have problems, John had those, but that you are living and working through those problems.  That no matter what, in the end you turn to God for help, not as a crutch, but for guidance in what to do?
