I think to myself, what a wonderful world

October 21, 2008

Jesus taught some really hard things.

Mark 9:33-35 GNB
(33) They came to Capernaum, and after going indoors Jesus asked his disciples, "What were you arguing about on the road?"
(34) But they would not answer him, because on the road they had been arguing among themselves about who was the greatest.
(35) Jesus sat down, called the twelve disciples, and said to them, "Whoever wants to be first must place himself last of all and be the servant of all."

Such a hard teaching, but why? Our flesh does not like it, that is why. We want our needs met. But think about a life where all were a servant to others.

Think of a marriage like that. A married couple would do for each other what would make the other happy, both getting their needs met as they meet the needs of the other one.

Think of a church like that. No one person has to do many things in the church or get burn out because all are helping where there ability matters most.

Think of a business like that. Customers get what they need as do workers and bosses. Everyone can afford to live at the wage they are earning.

So if it is so great a world idea, why don't we do it? Oh yeah, the flesh. Pesky thing isn't it.
