5 Also an athlete who takes part in a contest must obey all the rules in order to win.

I watch with interest the sports contests that I see on TV. I saw a football game the other day where a player tried to throw the ball but fumbled it and one of his team picked it up and tried to run with it. This was against the rules and any gain that he had could not be counted. He did not follow the rules. Not following the rules disqualifies you in football and you get penalized.

The same is true with our life as well. If we do not follow the rules we will get disqualified in doing the ministry that God has asked us to do. We cannot do something sinful habitually and expect God not to remove us from the game. We all will make a mistake from time to time and we all will get penalized for it. God will never remove us from the game though. Only time we will get removed is if we keep our sin going.

Time to go out and play by the rules.
