Seven Stars

June 26, 2007

You ever notice the little things. Some of say that we do, but often we do not have as good a handle on them as we think we do. For example take this verse from Revelation.

Rev 1:20 KJV
(20) The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

Now most people would look at that verse and yawn a little bit. Yes, we know that the the sever here over and over and over again means the seven churches in Asia. I have heard that the churches represent the seven church eras, the seven type of churches, heck say what you want and your guess could be as good as anything else. So why am I pointing this out. Do a word study on the word Angels in the verse. Many translations say it is angels, some say it is messenger, but a look at Strong's shows something interesting:

G32 ἄγγελος aggelos ang'-el-os
From ἀγγέλλω aggellō (probably derived from G71; compare G34; to bring tidings); a messenger; especially an “angel”; by implication a pastor: - angel, messenger.

Did you see that. It can be translated pastor. Next time that your pastor is going under a strain from the job that he is doing, go up to him and tell him that he is in Jesus right hand. Your pastor is in Jesus right hand, and no one can snatch him from Jesus hand. Give your pastor some encouragement.
