June 3, 2007 - Recognizing Jesus

Recognizing Jesus

Do you think that you can see Jesus in every situation that He is present in your life? If so, do you think that you are better than those who knew Him in the flesh?

Joh 20:13-14 ALT
(13) And they say to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She says to them, "Because they took away my Lord, and I do not know where they put Him."
(14) And these things having said, she was turned to the [things] behind and sees Jesus having stood [there], but she did not know that it is Jesus.

The time is just after Jesus had died on the cross. Mary had led John and Peter to the tomb showing that Jesus had been taken. She was wrapped up in her grief in the situation. And Jesus talked to her. He asked her why she was crying. Though she had supped with her on numerous occasions, herd Him speak many times, she could not recognize His voice speaking to her in her grief.

Are you going some grief today? Do you think that you could hear God speaking to you while you are going through it? Would Jesus' voice ring out through your sorrow? If you are not going through grief today, maybe you need to practice talking to and listen for it. Even those who knew Jesus in the flesh had problems.
