Progression

May 13, 2008

As has been noted many times in this devotional series, salvation/coming to know Jesus is a progressive thing. So is sin however. When David had sex with Bathsheba, it was not something that just happened. David had put himself in that position by bad planning.

2 Samuel 11:1 VW
(1) And it happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.

When David should have been going to war, he was hanging around the house. This is not much different in our lives either. We do not fall into sexual or any other sin without a little mistake planning. You may not intend for a relationship with a co-worker to blossom into an affair, and they may not have meant it either but it happened. When you should have been doing work, socializing took place.

Keep yourself busy, there is a much less chance of sin.
