May 16, 2007 - What's in a name?

May 16, 2007

Php 2:9-11 ALT
(9) And so God highly exalted Him [or, put Him in the most important position] and gave to Him a Name, the [Name] above every name,
(10) so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of heavenly [ones] and of earthly [ones] and of [ones] under the earth,
(11) and every tongue [fig., person] shall confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord to [the] glory of God [the] Father! [cp. Isaiah 45:23]

You have a problem. It has a name. Poverty, illness, whatever, it has a name. If it does not have a name, make one up for it.

Why? Because at the name of Jesus, every thing that has a name is lower than Jesus, the name above all other names. It will have to bow its knee to Jesus name.

But do not forget, you will have to bow your knee as well. Jesus' name is above your name as well. Too many times, we win the battle and then put ourselves back up on the throne.

Make sure that you have Jesus and that you confess Him as Lord.
