Pure Silver

August 5, 2005

Psa 12:6 KJV
(6) The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

It may not mean much to some people, but the purification process of silver mentioned here is very significant. Silver would be heated to a very high temperature and then the impurities would float to the top. The impurities would be skimmed off the top and then it would be allowed to cool. The process would repeat seven times, each time the same, each time making it more and more pure. Each time a little bit more dross taken off the top. By the time seven times had gone by, it would be just about as pure as it could be. Any impurities that were left would be part of the silver and not able to be removed. This would be the highest quality silver and would bring in a good price.

God's words are like that. They are pure, they are valuable. Sometimes we treat the word of God with little respect. Have you ever been in church like I have and the pastor will start a scripture and you will mumble the rest of it before he can finish it. Your brain starts to shut off like you have heard it all before.

Do not treat God's word that way. It is pure and valuable and needs to be treated with the same respect that you would treat anything of value.
