The battle is not ours

August 4, 2007

2Ch 32:7-8 KJV
(7) Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
(8) With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

King Hezekiah of Judah was up against a big problem. He had destroyed all the shrines to all the false gods that Judah had been worshiping. He had had the people worship God at the true temple of God only. Now the King of Assyria shows up and smack talks the people. He has had a great time beating all the other countries and not he plans to take on Judah. No other country has gods that have been able to defeat them, so what makes the people of Judah think that they have a God that can beat him.

King Hezekiah had it figured out though. They had nothing to worry about. They had been worshiping they proper God. And because they had, he knew that they would be supported by the one true God.

God will fight our battles against the king of this world, Satan, if we make sure that we worship Him.
