31 Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David,


As we saw yesterday, the kingly line stopped at one point, with a curse. But David had more than one son, and a son of David was to sit on the throne forever. We can see that the bloodlines split here and that Nathan also carried David's blood. In other words, no matter how it happened, through Mary or Joseph, there was a son of David born. The blood lines never crossed till they got the Mary and Joseph.

God always has a plan B in effect, even for the birth of His Son.
