Ezr 8:22-23 GNB
(22) I would have been ashamed to ask the emperor for a troop of cavalry to guard us from any enemies during our journey, because I had told him that our God blesses everyone who trusts him, but that he is displeased with and punishes anyone who turns away from him.
(23) So we fasted and prayed for God to protect us, and he answered our prayers.
Imagine that. A person who takes God at His word. He would not ask the king to protect the people because the King of Kings is supposed to be protecting them.
But notice that before they assumed that God would protect them, they did something.
Did you ever notice that every promise in the word of God comes with a condition. Even the fact that we accept Jesus as our savior comes when we believe that Jesus was who He said He was and He did what the Bible says He did.
Every promise comes with a condition. Look at some of your favorite promises and see what the condition is.
