(16) As your words came to me I drank them in,
and they filled my heart with joy and happiness
because I belong to you, O LORD, the God who rules over all.

What are God's words to you. As I write this, there is a steady rain going on outside my window. The ground which had been dry and the grass which had been wilting have become alive and I will have to cut the grass soon. Why? Because the ground took in the rain and fed the nutrients in them to the grass. When the ground was dry, it could not give.

God's word is like that. You need to drink them in like the ground drinks in the rain. Only then can you give back the life it gives you to others around you. You should, however, not feel like it is a drudgery to read it. It should fill you with joy and happiness to do so. If you struggle to read the Bible each day, then you may need to change the way you do things. You may need to look to your relationship with the Heavenly Father. You need to know that you belong to Him. Then, as you read, the Holy Spirit can speak to you and you can listen and learn. Then like the scripture says, you will have joy and happiness.
