Cornerstones

November 1, 2008

I have, as an observer of many churches, noticed that many a successful ministry starts from a person that you would never expect to start it. It is not the college educated business major that is able to start a church, but the guy who basically got through high school many times that can get a church started and on its way. Later, when he moves on to some other task for God, they educated person will come in and move it along. Why? Why does God use these people over the ones more qualified. The answer, as always, is in scripture.

Matthew 21:42 BWE
42 Jesus said, ‘Have you never read in the holy writings "The stone which the builders would not use is now the chief corner stone. The Lord did this. It looks wonderful to us"?

You see, in starting a church, this person who is a little rough is rejected and then he will go and do what he knows God told him to do. He is the one that God will start his new work around. Which brings to us the question, rejecting someones ideas cause they are a little rough, are we rejecting the cornerstone.
