Excess
December 1, 2008
(1Co 9:7 GNB)
What soldiers ever have to pay their own expenses in the army? What farmers do not eat the grapes from their own vineyard? What shepherds do not use the milk from their own sheep?
Straight forward questions, aren't they? We would never expect any of these people not to get some reward out of what they do? They why do we quibble over what a man of God should make for a salary? If the people who run some of the churches and religious organizations were to use their skills in the business world they would probably make a lot more money. Do I think there is not any excess in the budgets? Sure, but how about you sitting on your recliner watching your big screen TV? Do you have excess in your life? You throw the first stone at others?
Your pastor is most likely underpaid for what he does. Think about that the next time you have roast minister for Sunday lunch.
