Matthew 24:46-48 BWE
46 The servant who is doing this when his master comes, will be blessed.
47 I tell you the truth. His master will put him in charge of all that he has.
48 But if the servant is bad, he will say to himself, "My master will not come just now."
I enjoy listening to classic Christian Contemporary Music. Back in the 80's I worked at a local Christian Radio Station. I often wish that the newer stations would play some of that older stuff. One of the songs I enjoy was a song called 'Summer Snow', written by Keith Green and sung by Matthew Ward of the Second Chapter of Acts:
Unexpectedly, you came back to see,
If i'd was waiting, like i promised long before.
Your shadow filled the room, the music changed it's tune,
When i saw you, you were standing at the door.
Like summer snow, you were an unexpected sight.
A blazing sun, you were shining in the night,
When i really should have known, that you'd be coming home.
I waited patiently, but i found it hard to see,
If you were coming, why was there such a long delay.
At times i thought you lied, or else you would have tried,
To let me know that you were coming home today.
Like summer snow, it falls around me in the cold.
I can hear the echoes, of the warnings i was told.
That i should know, that you'd be coming home.
Like summer snow, you were an unexpected sight.
A blazing sun, you were shining in the night,
When i really should have known, that you'd be coming home.
Unexpectedly, you came back to see¡
Like Summer Snow, Jesus return will be unexpected. We can believe that it will never happen, that is in the freedom that God gives us. Or we can expect it and know it will happen. We can get discouraged and wonder about it. When Jesus returns, what will He see us doing, waiting and working for Him, or engaged in the worlds works because we did not expect Him?
