Acts 17:10-12 MKJV
(10) And the brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. They, when they arrived, went into the synagogue of the Jews.
(11) And these were more noble than those of Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind and searched the Scriptures daily to see if those things were so.
(12) Therefore many of them believed, and quite a few of honorable Greek women and men.
One should never take some thing that they read in the Bible and make a whole new religion out of it. But one should also decide to never take what some preacher says and believe it on its own either.
The people of Berea were wise. They did not just take Paul's word for things. They searched out what the Word said about Jesus and then they believed.
When someone tries to teach you something and you are not sure it is true, then take the time to see how it lines up with the Word of God. If it does, even if it goes against what you believe, then you can be sure it is true.
