Who Am I?
May 7, 2008
David had peace finally, but David was a man of war. He wanted to build the Lord a temple so that God would not live in a tent. God did not want it and told David so. God did tell him however, that his house would be established as the one of the Kings of Israel. Many people would have said to themselves, that is my right as King, but not David. In a prayer he says to God:
1 Chronicles 17:16 GW
(16) Then King David went into the tent and sat in front of the LORD. "Who am I, LORD God," he asked, "and why is my house so important that you have brought me this far?
David knew the true meaning of humility. He was nothing in the importance of thing when it came to God. Why would God choose him. True he was the king and could do what he wanted, but he knew where his power came from. He was in awe that God would consider him so important.
Take some time to reflect where you are today. God notices you wherever you are. Though you may not be important to the world (or you may be), it is the importance that God sees in you that matters the most.
