Love one another

February 19, 2008

Leviticus 19:18 CEV
(18) Stop being angry and don't try to take revenge. I am the LORD, and I command you to love others as much as you love yourself.

One of the most important commands come from the Old Testament. In fact Jesus said it was the 2ND most important one. And yet, we as people do not do it. We are to love others like we love ourselves. That is a hard concept for some people. Some people grew up unloved or at best under-loved. For them to try to love others is not really possible because they first have to learn to love themselves.

But what does it mean to love ourselves. Would we harm our bodies? Would we abuse them? Would we terminate the life from it? Unfortunately for many the answer is yes. It is sad that it takes place. Many people cut themselves and otherwise mutilate themselves. Many people pour drugs andalcohol into their systems in an effort to feel good. Many, in an attempt to end the pain, end their lives.

Jesus came so that we could know love. When we do the things like these, we do not show our love for ourselves and we cannot possibly even begin to show love for others.

Learn to love yourself. If you have trouble with that then know that God loves you so much He sent His son for you and accept Him as the Lord of your life.
