What do you rejoice in?
August 7, 2010
The life of Jesus. Read Today: Seventy Return; Luke 10: 17 - 20
Luke 10:20 (Twentieth Century New Testament)
20 Yet do not rejoice in the fact that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names have been enrolled in Heaven."
The other day I had a conversation with a person that was upset that the well known preachers of this day were living lives of luxury. His thoughts were that they were living off the backs of the people who supported their ministry, often the poor people. While I explained that many of them did some good works for the people it fell on deaf ears.
Then I thought about some of the pastors that I have followed over the years. Some pointed the size of their congregations, some to the fact that God had blessed then and so on. Many of them did not point, in public at least, to the main fact that their names were written in the Lamb’s book of Life. It is really the only thing that we can rejoice in. Everything else is icing on the cake.
