If you will...

The life of Jesus. Read Today: Jesus heals a leper Matthew 8:2-4; Mark 1:40-45; Luke 5:12-16
Though I belong to a Charismatic church, I tend not to try to put my beliefs that could be divisive in these devotionals. I want to glorify what we agree on and not divide over the minor things. However sometimes I cannot stop what I feel God wants to say and today is one of those.
Luke 5:12-13 ESV
12 While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.”
13 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him.
So many people who do not believe the Word of Faith movement, as it has been named, think that either it is a mind over matter thing or that it is telling God what to do. Our verse today shows us that it really is neither. It is a way for us to come to God, ask for what is in His will, and wait for it to happen. It does not always happen instantly like it does in today's verses. In one of the healing Jesus does, it took several tries for the healing to happen.
The point here is that we have to know what it is that God wants us to have. The requires a study of the Word and not to just live on someone else's knowledge of what the Word says. Jesus wanted to heal this man, that is why He came to earth. Look through the Word and find out what God has promissed you.
Read for tomorrow: Jesus cures a paralytic: Matthew 9:2-8; Mark 2:1-12; Luke 5:17-26
