Sins or healed?
October 5, 2008
Jesus tried to heal the people but He was always being questioned about His authority to do so. He addressed the question many ways. This time He asked them a question:
Luke 5:23(ESV)
23 Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise and walk'?
Stop and think about that question a moment. Which one is easier to say. If you said 'rise and walk' maybe you better think again. If you said that you better be sure that person is going to walk. Sin in someone's life is invisible. It is much easier to say 'your sins are forgiven' because someone caannot necessarily see sins. How can they tell if they are forgiven or not?
Now Jesus knew He was going to have to say rise up and walk anyway so why did He say your sins are forgiven first? Maybe because He saw the spiritual need. With the man knowing he was forgiven he could concentrate on his healing
Do not let others mock you when you are ministering to someone. You may need to take time and address their issue if it brings doubt to your listener. Always stick to what God has told you to do.
