Can you loose deliverence?

March 13, 2009

The life of Jesus. Read Today: The sign of Jonah; Matthew 12:38-45

Matthew 12:43-45 ESV
43 “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none.
44 Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order.
45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”

Years ago I knew someone who had been delivered of some serious illness. He became quite healthy and normal. As time went on though, he chose to return to the problems that had brought the illness on him in the first place. In the end, the illness came back on him not like it was before but much worse.

I asked him why he was in the state that he was in after it all happened. He told me that even though the deliverance had come to him, it was so easy to walk in the lifestyle that he had. It took work to keep his healing and he did not want to do it. Jesus points that out to us here. The spirit returns to his home and finds it empty. It should be filled with the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, but it is not. So he gets other demons to come back with him and the state of the person in the end is worse.

When God delivers you, take some time to clean your house and invite the Holy Spirit in to help you keep it clean.
